Maurice Ndour

The Knicks like Ndour; they had him during the summer in 2015 but were unable to keep him because of a money crunch. As a result, he signed with the Dallas Mavericks. The Knicks had a shot at him again this summer, and this time he was able to land a training camp invite which he parlayed into a roster spot.

But, his roster spot could be in jeopardy in the coming weeks. While Ndour would be someone that would benefit from the Knicks deciding to rebuild, as it would equal more playing time, he may not make it that far.

If the Knicks do indeed trade Carmelo Anthony they will probably receive multiple players in return. Because of the size of his contract, there are not many players the Knicks can trade him for one-for-one. Essentially, the Knicks will have to open up roster spots to consummate a trade for Anthony. If that is the case, Ndour could be on the move.

The Knicks are also reportedly interested in a reunion with Derrick Williams, who was released by the Miami Heat earlier this week. If he clears waivers and becomes a free agent, New York is one of the teams that will look into signing him. Again, since they are at the maximum amount of players allowed on the roster, someone would have to go.

Ndour would probably be at the top of that list. Sasha Vujacic is a Phil Jackson favorite, so axing him seems unlikely. Ron Baker has flashed at times and looks like someone the Knicks like having around, along with Marshall Plumlee. That leaves Ndour as what looks like the odd man out should the Knicks add anyone in the coming weeks and need to clear a roster spot.
