Kyle O’Quinn

Another player that did not play well for the Knicks on Monday night was center Kyle O’Quinn. Due to the injury to Joakim Noah, O’Quinn was put in the starting lineup by head coach Jeff Hornacek.

This season, O’Quinn has been very good at giving the Knicks energy when he is on the court. Even though he is limited on the offensive end, O’Quinn usually brings 110 percent for the Knicks. As the Knicks got blitzed early, there was no spark from O’Quinn.

In the loss, O’Quinn totaled 10 points, two rebounds, and one assist. While the 10 points for O’Quinn was good, two rebounds in 16 minutes of action isn’t. Fouls were also an issue for O’Quinn, as he picked up two early in the first quarter. The poor performance by O’Quinn resulted in the Knicks being -21 when he was on the court. Most of the starters didn’t have good differentials, however, O’Quinn was the worst.

Once again, Willy Hernangomez proved to be the best center for the Knicks. It is surprising to see that he still isn’t starting. Even though he didn’t play great against the Lakers, he was the most productive center for the Knicks. If Noah is going to be out, Hernangomez should be the starting center for the Knicks.
