Recent New York Knicks rumors have emerged that they could be interested in a reunion with forward Derrick Williams.

Recent Knicks rumors are about a possible reunion with forward Derrick Williams. According to Ian Begley, the Knicks would be interested if Williams clears waivers.

Williams became a free agent at the end of last season after declining his player option with the Knicks. In the 2015-16 season with the Knicks, Williams averaged 9.3 points per game while averaging just 17.9 minutes per game.

After signing with the Miami Heat, Williams hasn’t been much of a factor for them this season. He is currently averaging just 5.9 points per game. Williams was well likely in New York, and here’s what Begley said about a possible reunion.

"If forward Derrick Williams clears waivers, it’s worth noting that he still has some fans in the Knicks organization. Williams was with the Knicks in 2015-16 and signed with Miami over the summer, declining a player option to remain in New York. He will he waived by Miami, according to multiple reports. Sources say the Knicks will indeed have some interest in Williams if he clears waivers. The club, of course, will have to waive a player to make room for Williams."

In order to make room for the possible addition of Williams, the Knicks would need to waive a player themselves. At just 25-years-old, Williams still has a lot of potential and was a solid bench player for the Knicks.

Adding some more scoring to the bench unit wouldn’t be a bad thing. However, Williams wouldn’t help the Knicks on the defensive end of the court. There could be a lot of changes on the Knicks roster if they do decide to trade Carmelo Anthony. If that happens, adding a scorer like Williams would be a solid move for the Knicks.
