5.) Secure Home Field Advantage

Even though the Giants have had success in the recent past coming from the Wild Card spot, that is not the preferred way to a Super Bowl. In 2016, the Giants were hurt by the Dallas Cowboys having such a great season which led to them securing the NFC East and home-field advantage. The Giants did their job against the Cowboys by beating them twice, however, the Cowboys didn’t lose to anyone else in the regular season.

One of the reasons why the Giants were eliminated from the playoffs this season was because they had to play in Green Bay. Playing against the Packers in Lambeau Field in the playoffs is not something that a team would want. Even though the Giants have played well there historically, that luck ran out.

Even if the Giants played the other Divisional winner, that would have meant a trip to Seattle. With arguably the loudest crowd in the NFL, that also likely would have resulted in the Giants being eliminated from the playoffs.

In 2017, it would be nice to see the Giants win the NFC East, and make teams come to MetLife Stadium. Like some other areas, New Jersey is known for its poor weather in January. This could be a huge advantage for the Giants depending on who they play.
