The New York Knicks appear to be actively shopping Carmelo Anthony. Does Derrick Rose worry that he could be next?

Due to their struggles in the first half of the season, the New York Knicks appear to be willing to trade Carmelo Anthony. While many expected the Knicks to at least be a playoff team this season, they have not played well. Furthermore, President Phil Jackson might be looking to make a big trade.

While Anthony’s name has been the hot topic in trade rumors, the Knicks also have another talented veteran that would likely draw interest if the Knicks become sellers. In what turned out to be a very good trade this offseason, the Knicks were able to acquire Derrick Rose from the Chicago Bulls. However, if the Knicks are going to be entering a full rebuild, Rose’s name could come up in trade rumors.

When speaking with Ian Begley, Derrick Rose acknowledged that he could be traded. “It’s something me and my agent haven’t talked about. I haven’t talked to (GM) Steve (Mills) or the front office about it. It’s something that hasn’t been out there. It’s a business. Just got to wait and see.”

Even though Rose has played well, he is a free agent at the end of this season. If Jackson and the Knicks don’t believe that he is in their future plans, they would be foolish not to trade him if they part ways with Anthony.

“I’m on a one-year deal so I can’t talk that much about it.” Rose said to Begley. “The rebuild could be me going too. I don’t know. My job is to focus whenever I’m on the court, just try to win games, try to be positive, try to get better every day. Like I said from the beginning, I’m chasing something. I’m trying to get back to myself and I’m trying to play consistent games.”

Even though the Knicks are seven games under .500, they still could easily make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference. With the All-Star Break and trade deadline closing in, the Knicks have some big decisions to make. In addition to Anthony, the Knicks also have to think about what the future holds for Rose.
