Number Two: Taco Charlton, Defensive End, Michigan

These next two guys should be number one and two on the Giants big board depending on the Pierre-Paul signing. Taco Charlton is one of the premier pass rushers in the 2017 draft. Charlton has great size for an edge rusher at 6’6” and 272 pounds and would be the ideal replacement if Pierre-Paul does not re-sign with the Giants.

Charlton experienced great success at Michigan in his final season. The senior had 40 total tackles, 13.5 of which were for a loss, and he had 10 sacks to boot. Charlton has a great wingspan and just looks like a prototypical NFL defensive lineman.

Charlton might need to add some weight, but I don’t think it’ll take away from his spectacular speed. He also has great moves on the edge. He has the ability to bull rush, has a lethal spin move off of the line, and has a decent rip move to pair with it.

Charlton only has one full year as a starter under his belt, but it was for one of the NCAA’s best defenses. He has the size and the talent to be a great pass rusher in the NFL, and the Giants should really consider Charlton as a great replacement option for Pierre-Paul heading into next season.
