1.) Boston Celtics
Arguably the team that makes the most sense for Brook Lopez is the Boston Celtics. The Celtics are once again one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, but they lack a true center. This offseason, the Celtics’ big offseason signing wasAl Horford. While Horford is a very good player, he is a bit undersized to be playing center. Horford’s natural position is at power forward, and he would be able to excel with Lopez on the team.
In the Eastern Conference, the goal is always to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers. It is hard to have an individual matchup advantage against the Cavaliers withLeBron James,Kyrie Irving, andKevin Love. However, Lopez would give the Celtics an advantage at the center position.
After trades with Nets in recent years, the Celtics have plenty of draft picks and young assets to complete a deal for Lopez. We have been waiting to see the Celtics make a big splash to try and make it to the next level. Adding Lopez might not be the superstar that they desire, however, he would certainly make them a better team. The Nets and Celtics are no strangers to making trades. With a need at center, another one would make a lot of sense for both teams.
