Round 4: Nathan Peterman; Quarterback, Pittsburgh

The New York Giants have to realize that they need to start looking for a strong backup quarterback with the potential to become a starter down the road. At 36, Eli Manning might only have two to three good seasons left in him, that is if he decides to keep playing at not retire in the next few seasons.

Peterman fits the bill as a quarterback that could be developed, but also would give the Giants a backup option if Manning gets hurt next year. Manning has been incredibly durable, but once again the age could play a factor in his ability to start all 16 games.

Peterman started the last 26 games for Pittsburgh, going 16-10 as the starter. While he’s slightly undersized at 6-feet-2 inches and 225 pounds, he has impressed scouts at the Senior Bowl and has shown the ability to complete throws and not turn the ball over. Over the past two seasons, Peterman has a completion percentage over 60 percent, while throwing 47 touchdowns to only 15 interceptions.

Peterman has the potential to be the Giants eventual starter down the road, but could also help New York make a spot start or two if Manning has to miss time.
