The Final Verdict

It’s hard to say it, but it’s time for Cruz to leave New York. He will always be remembered for the great things he produced as a Giants wide receiver, but the Giants need to move on.

His time in New York has come to an end, and it’s really because he is too far out of his prime after all of the injuries. To put it quite frankly the NFL, as was previously noted, is a business.

To quote the great Gordon Gekko from the movie Wall Street, “Greed, for lack of a better word, is good.” Like it or hate it, teams are always looking for the younger and cheaper guy with a lot of upside.

There is an undying love for Cruz in New York, and it’s justified because of what he has done for the city. He has brought a new culture to Giants football, and the team should forever grateful for what he has done while wearing blue week in and week out.

Cruz could very well come back next season, and the point this article makes would be moot, but there are too many signs saying that he won’t be wearing number 80 for the Giants anymore.
