New York Knicks Midseason Grades By Position: Center
Marshall Plumlee spends more nights on the inactive list in a suit than in a jersey on the bench. But, when he does get a chance to play, he brings it 100 percent.
Plumlee has only seen action in five games, but he has made the most of those five appearances. He made his NBA debut against Dwight Howard when Joakim Noah was sick, showing up to the game while the first quarter was going on. He has been on NBA D-League assignment a couple of times and then called by the Knicks to come to a game. It is not an easy situation, but Plumlee is always ready.
He most recently did it against the Boston Celtics. It was late notice, but Plumlee provided excellent minutes off the bench. He scored five points with seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the upset victory. It was a solid game and the perfect example of what he brings to the table.
He brings energy every time he steps on the court, constantly hustling and showing no fear inside. Plumlee isn’t afraid to mix it up if he has to, showing great toughness. As an undrafted rookie, he knows that his roster spot can be lost at any time. But with his attitude and the effort he puts in during practice and in games his roster spot should be secure.

With all of the other options the Knicks have at center, Plumlee will find it difficult to find minutes; especially if Kristaps Porzingis plays center more going forward. While minutes aren’t guaranteed, you can count on Plumlee being ready whenever his number is called.
