The Brooklyn Nets have received some bad news about the possible return of their point guard Jeremy Lin.

The frustrating first season for Jeremy Lin will continue for the Brooklyn Nets. After being arguably their biggest move of the offseason, Lin has barely been able to play this season.

While trying to return from a hamstring strain, Lin has reportedly re-aggravated the injury and will be out an additional 3-5 weeks. Now, Lin might not be back until late February or early March with that timetable.

Lin has played well when healthy for the Nets this season. However, he hasn’t been on the court nearly enough. In his first season with the Nets, Lin has averaged 13.9 points, 5.8 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game.

This season, Lin was expected to be one of the key players for the Nets along with Brook Lopez. Due to him being injured so often, the Nets have had to find production from other guards. Moving forward, the Nets will continue to feature a lot of Isaiah Whitehead and Spencer Dinwiddie at point guard.

Whitehead was a second-round pick of the Nets this season, and the talented rookie is getting plenty of time to develop this season. Whitehead and Dinwiddie will likely continue to share the minutes at point guard until one of them are able to separate themselves from the other.

When Lin comes back, the Nets will likely have to still have him limited because of the hamstring. This setback has made the 2016-17 a wasted one for Lin.
