New York Jets: Nolan Rich’s Seven-Round Mock Draft (1.0)
By Nolan Rich
Round 4: Pick Traded to Denver for Ryan Clady
Round 5: Channing Stribling: CB: Michigan
There’s no question the Jets need help at the corner back position. Michigan cornerback Channing Stribling could be a welcomed addition to the secondary as he not only can play the corner position, but also has shown the versatility to play safety as well.
His coverage skills have been praised by coach Jim Harbaugh and it showed with 12 passes defended and four interceptions. Stribling’s versatility and coverage skills would be welcomed on the Jets whose secondary struggled in 2016.
Round 6: Tyus Bowser: OLB: Houston
The Jets desperately need a pass rusher on their defense and Bowser could be a great fit. In only eight games this past season Bowser had 8.5 sacks, he missed five games for fracturing his orbital bone.
With 14 sacks in his final 22 games in college, Bowser could be a late steal for New York and fill the role of being a productive pass rusher as a 3-4 outside linebacker.
Round 7: John Toth: OL: Kentucky
Nick Mangold could be cut for cap space and last year showed that the Jets were lacking in-depth on the offensive line. Toth would be a nice developmental pick because he was a four-year starter at center for Kentucky and could possibly become a starter down the road. Even if he’s not an immediate starter, Toth has played other positions on the line and could provide great depth for the interior line at center and guard.
