2.) Brock Nelson

With the final pick of the first round of the 2010 NHL Draft, the Islanders found a talented scorer in forward Brock Nelson. Even though Nelson wasn’t a top pick in the 2010 NHL Draft, he has more than proved himself as a scorer in the NHL.

In his rookie season, Nelson had a solid season for the Islanders, as he totaled 14 goals and 12 assists in 62 games. Even though he was a rookie, Nelson contributed on the power-play with three goals and four assists.

The following season, Nelson really emerged as a talented scorer for the Islanders. In the 2014-15 season, Nelson totaled 20 goals, 10 of which were on the power-play. Last season, Nelson continued to improve as a scorer for the Islanders, as he totaled a career-high 26 goals. With only three power-play goals, Nelson really improved at scoring even strength goals.

Finding a player that is able to score 20 goals in a season at the end of the first round is extremely impressive for the Islanders. Nelson will be attempting to score 20 goals for the third straight season this year. If he accomplishes that, it would be a truly impressive feat. At just 25-years-old, the future is very bright for Nelson.
