Number One: Michael Strahan (1993-2007)

Surprise surprise, number one on the list is number 92, and it is well-deserved. He was drafted in 1993 and had his burst out year in 1997.

In 1997 Strahan recorded 14 sacks which earned him his first of seven Pro Bowl bids and was named First-Team All-Pro by the Associated Press. He repeated the same feats in 1998 after recording 15 sacks.

Strahan continued his dominance into the new millennium earning 2001 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, and NFC Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2001 and 2003. In 2001 one Strahan also broke Mark Gastineau’s record for sacks in a single season with 22.5.

Many thought 2006 would be Strahan’s final season as a player, after being what many felt was the standard for defensive ends from 1997-2005. He held on to play one more year, and led the Giants to one of the most improbable Super Bowl runs of all time.

In the Giants 2008 upset Super Bowl victory Strahan recorded two tackles and one sack. He coined his famous saying “Stomp them out” during the run.

Strahan retired in 2008 after 15 seasons, and when he hung it up, he held the Giants record for career sacks with 141.5. The same number ranks him sixth all-time. He was immortalized as an NFL Hall of Famer in 2014.
