The New York Rangers suffered an embarrassing loss to the Dallas Stars. In the loss, they allowed seven goals.

It was a tough night for the New York Rangers against the Dallas Stars. In the 7-6 loss, the word embarrassing was said often in the locker room. The loss was also the Rangers’ third straight in what has been a rough stretch.

With Antti Raanta out, Henrik Lundqvist is going to be doing most of the goaltending. Unfortunately for him and the Rangers, he is in the middle of a rough stretch. In his last four games, Lundqvist has allowed 20 goals and has a save percentage below .850.

“It’s embarrassing, frustrating and disappointing at the same time,” said Lundqvist to Steve Zipay of Newsday.com. “There were a lot of opportunities in front and I need to find a way to get going. [This stretch] is definitely a low point . . . The bottom line is I have to find another level; it’s not good enough.”

The rough stretch is certainly concerning for the Rangers and for Lundqvist. He is having a really difficult season, and things don’t appear to be improving. After allowing seven goals to the Stars, two of his teammates came to his defense.

Said Stepan to Steve Zipay of Newsday.com: “We played two periods of hockey where we leave our goaltender out to dry. It’s quite embarrassing.” And Dan Girardi backed him up: “I’ve been here a long time and those first two periods were embarrassing.”

Lundqvist and the Rangers will have a day off before they travel to play the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Maple Leafs are having a surprisingly good season, and one of the reasons why is their offense. They are currently ranked 6th in the NHL in goals per game, and they will be challenging the struggling Lundqvist.
