Number One: Trying to Finally Fix the Offensive Line

Another thing every Giants fan knows; our offensive line is terrible. This is one situation where I truly do not have some sort of idea of what Reese can or should do, but something has to be done.

Let’s first address the positives. Center Weston Richburg and guard Justin Pugh are going to be the centerpieces of the Giants’ line for years to come. Now the negatives.

Aside from those two guys, the Giants have no real talent along their offensive front. The team has to find a way to move Ereck Flowers inside because I can’t keep watching him not put a finger on a defensive end as they rush past him and get into the backfield.

A big problem the team had was not giving Manning enough time to drop back and throw the ball deep downfield. Instead, the team used a lot of screens and quick slant plays to get the ball out of Manning’s hand quicker.

The team also had an abysmal running attack as mentioned before. That was in due part to the fact that there was no push from John Jerry from the right guard position, and because the Giants don’t have a fullback.

It might be time to invest heavily in the offensive line department so the team can plug and play until they find a core group of five talented linemen.  If the team can draft a highly touted tackle, and move Flowers opposite of Pugh, the Giants will be making the first step in the right direction to producing an effective offensive line.
