New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning had a message for wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. after their loss to the Green Bay Packers.

It was a not a good playoff debut for New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. In the loss to the Packers, Beckham totaled just four receptions and 28 receiving yards. The glaring problem was Beckham was the three dropped passes.

Due to Beckham being in Miami a week before the game, Beckham opened himself up to possible criticism if he played poorly. After Sunday’s game, that is exactly what happened.

“You just need to learn the perception of things makes a difference,” Manning said to Connor Hughes of NJ.com. “You do things, you’ve got to back it up.”

Many have called Beckham immature for some of his actions. However, Manning just believes that Beckham is extremely passionate about wanting to be a winner.

“I think, Odell, he’s passionate,” Manning said to Hughes. “He’s passionate. He wants to win. This is important for him. He wanted to go out there and have the best game of his career. Maybe he put too much pressure on himself. Unfortunately, going to the playoffs is different. It’s different for everybody.

Besides Eli, the Giants were a very inexperienced group in the playoffs. The struggles that Beckham and others had on Sunday was likely related to this. While the Miami trip will be linked with Beckham from now on, it likely had zero effect on him in his first playoff game.

“We didn’t have a whole lot of people who had been to the playoffs. You hate to say it’s a learning experience — I hate to see it when I’m in my 13th year — but sometimes guys just have to go through it, see what it’s like, understand that they can’t make it bigger than what it is. “You need to have a calm mindset and just go out there and play football, be relaxed, bring out your best. Try to play your best, trust the training, go through it.”
