Giants vs Packers: 6 Matchups To Watch For Wild Card Weekend
Eli Manning vs Packers Secondary
With how hot the Packers offense has been in recent weeks, the Giants are going to need some production from their offense. The offense has been underwhelming all season, but you cannot count out Eli Manning during the postseason.
Manning is a different player once the bright lights of the playoffs come on. He has been excellent in his career in the postseason, going 8-3 with 2,516 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and only eight interceptions; three of those interceptions came in his playoff debut in 2005. But, it remains to be seen if Manning can put the offense on his back, as 2016 was a struggle for him.
Manning looked skittish at times during the regular season in the pocket. The Giants offensive line was inconsistent, leading to a lot of pressure at times on Manning. He averaged a career-low 10.7 yards per completion, throwing 26 touchdowns compared to 16 interceptions. There were plenty of times that Manning missed throws he has made in his sleep previously in his career.
Against the Packers, earlier this season, Manning struggled mightily. He completed 18-of-35 attempts for 199 yards and one touchdown. He was sacked three times as well and had a very ugly game overall.
The Packers defense has only gotten better since that game, so it will be interesting to see what he does this time around. Cold weather and postseason pressure has never impacted Manning negatively before; will that change this season?
