New York Giants Come In Middle Of The Pack In Playoff Power Rankings
6. Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks have been outstanding under Pete Carroll and this season was no different. They ran away with the NFC West division and fell just short of getting a bye in the Wild Card round. But, there is something missing from this year’s team.
For one, Earl Thomas will not be playing this postseason because of injury. When the Seahawks were without Kam Chancellor earlier in the season they saw a drop-off and are seeing that with Thomas out now. The Seahawks also no longer have Beast Mode in their backfield.
They have tried but have been unable to replace the retired Marshawn Lynch. The rushing attack is just not the same; their leading rusher from this season, Christine Michael, isn’t even on the roster. The Seahawks averaged only 99.4 yards per game on the ground, putting pressure on Russell Wilson’s arm.
At the beginning of the season, that was a big problem as he battled a number of injuries. But, he is now healthy and the Seahawks offense has picked things up. Seattle has been unable to gain much momentum the second half of the season, as they alternated wins and losses the final seven weeks of the season.
This Seattle team isn’t as dangerous as ones in years past, but they still have plenty of playmakers. The defensive front has gotten healthier, which could pose problems for opposing offenses even when Seattle leaves behind the 12th man and home field advantage of CenturyLink Field.
