12. Detroit Lions

The Lions got into the postseason by the skin of their teeth. Coming into December they looked like they had the NFC North locked down. They won the first two games of the month, pushing them to 9-4 on the season. But then Matthew Stafford injured his hand and things quickly unraveled.

The Lions come into the postseason with a lot of injuries and zero momentum. They lost the last three games of the regular season, dropping the division title in the season finale against the Packers. In addition to Stafford’s injury, the Lions will be without starting running back Theo Riddick.

The Lions have very little in the running game to take pressure off Stafford, as Zach Zenner has taken over the lead back role. He played well the last two games of the season, gaining 136 yards on 32 carries with three touchdowns and catching six passes for 66 more yards. But, doing that against the Dallas Cowboys and Packers is much different than against the Seattle Seahawks in the postseason.

Add in the fact that the Lions won eight of their nine games after trailing in the fourth quarter and they come into the postseason as arguably the team in the worst position.
