4. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs seem to fly under the radar every regular season. They just go about their business and keep winning games. They are 22-4 in their last 26 regular season games and have a very well-rounded team that gets the job done.

People get on the play of Alex Smith, but he gets the job done for what Andy Reid asks of him. The offense also has a ton of playmakers. Travis Kelce has made a serious case as arguably the best tight end outside of Rob Gronkowski in the NFL. Tyreek Hill brings explosion to the team in a multitude of ways. Jeremy Maclin and Chris Conley are good receivers, and Spencer Ware gets it done on the ground.

While Smith doesn’t take many shots, the Chiefs do not need him to. As long as he gets the ball into the hands of his playmakers and doesn’t turn the ball over, what more could you ask for? The Chiefs lead the NFL in turnover differential in part because of Smith’s ball security but also because of a strong defense

The Chiefs defense may surrender a lot of yards, finishing 24th in yards allowed, but do not give up many points, finishing seventh in scoring defense. They are first in the NFL in interceptions and fumble recoveries, forcing 33 turnovers this season. That has helped their bend but don’t break defense work.

The turnovers are much needed, as the Chiefs have a below average pass rush, totaling only 28 sacks on the season. They are also below average stopping the run and pass. It is a dangerous way to live, but the Chiefs have made it work.
