New York Jets: Grading The 2015 NFL Draft Class

Round 5: Jarvis Harrison, Offensive Guard, Texas A&M

The Jets tried to address the offensive line depth in the fifth round. Unfortunately, Harrison never amounted to anything more the practice squad fodder. After spending 2015 on the practice squad, the team cut him on August 28th.

The Jets were not able to address their need on the offensive line and Harrison still remains unemployed in the NFL.

Grade: D

Round Seven: Deon Simon, Nose Tackle, Northwestern State

The Jets were looking to find an eventual replacement for Damon Harrison in the 3-4 at the nose tackle position. It has taken some time, but Simon could be on his way to eventually being the Jets nose tackle or at the very least a valuable run-stopping defensive tackle.

After being on the practice squad for most of his career, Simon earned some valuable playing time over the final few weeks of the 2016 season and recorded eight tackles and a sack over the final four games. This included three tackles and a sack in the Jets finale against the Bills.

Simon has at least thrown himself into the conversation to be apart of the Jets talented defensive front for the 2017 campaign.
