New York Jets: Grading The 2015 NFL Draft Class
By Nolan Rich
Second Round: Devin Smith,Wide Receiver, Ohio State
While Leonard Williams appears to have a bright future in New York, Devin Smith’s future is up in the air.
While most of his career has been slowed by an ACL injury that cost Smith a majority of his 2015 and 2016 seasons, when he has been on the field he has been lackluster at best. In 14 games, Smith has only 10 receptions on 31 targets for 135 yards and one touchdown.
With players like Robbie Anderson, Jalin Marshall, Charone Peake, and Quincy Enunwa all showing that they could be contributors for New York in 2017, Smith will have to have a strong training camp just to make the team.
The Jets have struggled with their second round selections for over a decade, and it looks like Smith is on his way to being another one of team’s second round busts unless he has a huge training camp in 2017.
