New York Giants: Odell Beckham Jr. Defends Miami Trip

On an off-day for the New York Giants, wide receivers including Odell Beckham Jr. were seen partying in Miami. What did Beckham have to say about the matter?

With the NFL Playoffs starting, the wide receivers of the New York Giants used their off-day to do some partying in Miami. While many of their teammates including Eli Manning didn’t seem to care, this isn’t the best look for the Giants heading into the Wild Card Round.

On Sunday, the Giants will be playing one of the hottest teams in the NFL in the Green Bay Packers. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has found his groove, and the Packers are many people’s pick to represent the NFC in Super Bowl this season. With some criticisms about the decision to party in Miami, Odell Beckham Jr. recently defended the trip.

“We were going to [Florida] to get our minds right,” Beckham told ESPN’s Josina Anderson via Jordan Raanan. “That’s what we were doing. I handle my business. I’m a grown man. I do what I am supposed to be doing. I’m in the building when I’m supposed to be in the building. I don’t miss team meetings, none of that.

“I’m not perfect, but everybody knows my passion for football when I’m on the football field. I’m here for the N.Y. Giants, especially over the next four weeks. Now, we are about to make a run, about to make a push; it’s go time. Everybody is focusing on what they need to be focusing on.”

This will be the first time that Beckham is going to be playing in a playoff game for the Giants. When the wide receivers were in Miami, Manning was at the Giants facility prepping for the game. Due to some of the issues Beckham has had this season, this certainly isn’t a good way to be heading into the postseason.

Furthermore, with just a few weeks left in the season, the partying in Miami could have been held off. If the Giants come out and beat the Packers on Sunday, all will be forgotten. However, people might point the finger if Beckham or the wide receivers struggle on Sunday.
