The Washington Capitals face the New York Islanders at the Barclays Center on December 27th. Here is all the information you will need to watch the game.

The Washington Capitals and New York Islanders face off tonight as the NHL holiday break comes to an end. The Capitals enter the game with a 20-8-4 record and 44 points. The Islanders are 13-14-6 with 32 points, as they look to climb back into the Eastern Conference playoff picture.

The Islanders have a lot of work to accomplish getting into the playoff picture. They are tied for the least amount of points in the Eastern Conference with the Buffalo Sabres. If they want to climb back into contention, defeating the Capitals, who are in one of the two Wild Card spots, would be a good start.

The Islanders are riding a modest two-game winning streak, which comes on the heels of a five-game winless streak. The team is beginning to gain some confidence as a result.

"“Two in a row, we feel pretty good,” Islanders right winger Ryan Strome said. “Refresh over the break. We’ve got to get on our horses here (and) get going.”“I think the biggest thing is when we get contributions from different guys, we’re successful,” Strome said. “We’ve kind of had a steady flow in our lineups now the last couple games. We’re starting to get a little chemistry, so it’s nice to get rolling and get a couple guys on the scoreboard, myself included. It feels good.”"

The Capitals needed the rest period as they enter a tough stretch of their schedule. They will play 17 games in 31 days, which starts against the Islanders, a team they have had great success against recently.

Washington is 8-1-3 against New York in their last 12 matchups, including an impressive 5-0-2 in their last seven games on Islanders home ice.

“I think it’s just the mindset; you’ve got a game against a good team,” Capitals coach Barry Trotz said. “We’ve had a good rivalry over the past few years, so I think just come ready to play. I think the three-day break was fantastic for everybody. I’m not a big fan of playing during the holidays, so I think it was perfect. Let’s get back at it and go to work.”

Will the Capitals continue their success against the Islanders, or will the Islanders keep their winning streak intact? We have all the information you will need to watch the game to find out and see.
