The New York Giants have clinched a berth in the 2016 NFL Playoffs after the New Orleans Saints defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

After a few seasons of missing the postseason, the New York Giants will be playing playoff football for the first time since 2011. Despite losing to the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night, the Giants were able to clinch a playoff berth on Sunday.

Thanks to a win by the New Orleans Saints, the Giants are locked into the fifth seed in the NFC Playoffs. For head coach Ben McAdoo, making the playoffs is certainly a good accomplishment in his first season as a head coach.

The Giants don’t know who they will be playing yet, as things can drastically change in the NFC playoff picture next week. With the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions playing for the division next week, the Giants could be facing either of those teams. Also, they could also be heading to Seattle to face the Seahawks.

Ideally, the Giants would likely want to play the Lions who they just recently beat. Playing on the road in either Seattle or Green Bay would not be a good scenario. Even though the Giants aren’t one of the top seeds, they will have the luxury of resting players next week if they want to.

With a few players being banged up like Janoris Jenkins, getting some extra rest would be very beneficial. The Giants have had a lot of success as a Wild Card team. This season, they will be hoping to replicate Super Bowl runs of the past.
