Pass Defense Grade: B

It was a nice of missed opportunities for the Giants pass defense. Carson Wentz didn’t have a great game by any means but he hurt the Giants when it mattered.

Wentz was able to keep a number of plays alive with his athleticism and ability to avoid sacks in the backfield. He did not get sacked all game, but the Giants should have had at least three or four; they just were never able to finish the play. ESPN counted only three hits against Wentz but had they finished plays that number would easily double.

His escapability is what hurt the Giants. He completed only 13-of-24 for 152 yards, one touchdown, and one interception but it felt like he was hurting the Giants more. He kept plays alive with his legs and gave the defense opportunities to make plays that they only capitalized on once.

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who filled in on the outside for the injured Janoris Jenkins, had a nice interception in the first half. But Jonathan Casillas dropped a gift interception in the second half that would have further shifted momentum towards the Giants. A questionable roughing the passer call against Olivier Vernon also hurt the Giants.

The Giants were able to hold the Eagles at the goalline, but they were able to bleed another 3+ minutes off the clock. That proved costly as the Giants last ditch effort came with under two minutes remaining on the clock.
