Detroit Lions vs New York Giants: 5 Players To Watch
Eric Ebron
The New Jersey native is having his second homecoming since coming into the NFL. The Lions visited the New York Jets during his rookie season, but this is the game he considers his true homecoming. He was a Giants fan growing up so he will be ready to go when the whistle blows.
Ebron will be wearing custom cleats for the game with the area code of Newark, New Jersey, which is 10 miles away from MetLife and where he grew up. He will have plenty of family and friends in the stands watching giving him even more incentive to perform.
With how the Giants have defended tight ends this season, Ebron has a good chance to show off for the people coming to watch him. Tight ends have presented a problem for the Giants all season. They were able to slow down the lumbering Jason Witten last weekend as they blew up the whole Cowboys’ passing game.
But, the Lions will present a bigger problem. Ebron is very athletic and Stafford is not afraid to take shots at his tight end. Ebron had at least 42 yards the first seven games of the season but has cooled off considerably since. If he is going to get back on track there aren’t many teams that present a better chance than the Giants.
He is someone the Giants defense will have to keep an eye on. With running back Theo Riddick probably out, there will be some targets available to be spread around. Ebron should see some of those targets as a safety valve for Stafford and someone that can stretch the field as well.
