Detroit Lions vs New York Giants: 5 Players To Watch
Odell Beckham Jr.
If Manning is going to get on track you know Odell Beckham Jr. will be a big part of it. Too often this season the Giants offense has relied on Beckham Jr. making a play out of nothing. His prowess on slant routes has been on full display, as he took one 61-yards to the house last week against the Dallas Cowboys, which proved to be the deciding score.
This week Beckham Jr. will have a tougher task by going up against Darius Slay. Slay has come onto the scene as one of the best cornerbacks in the business this season. Slay will try to display that again today in a matchup that goes back to their college days.
Beckham Jr. and Slay faced off in SEC battles in college when Beckham Jr. was at LSU and Slay played for Mississippi State. Slay presents a challenge for Beckham Jr., but we have seen Beckham Jr. roast even the best of cornerbacks in his career.
If the Giants are going to win this game it is a matchup Beckham Jr. needs to win. The Giants should have a huge advantage whenever Beckham Jr. is moved into the slot. Slay does not play the slot, so look for the Giants to manufacture touches for their most explosive player by moving him around the formation and away from Slay.
The Giants know they need Beckham Jr. to succeed if they are going to win, so expect the gameplan to reflect that. He will move all around the formation, but whenever he and Slay matchup it will be a fun one to watch.
