Matthew Stafford

A lot of attention will be given to Stafford this afternoon. Partly because he is turning in an MVP-caliber season, but mostly because of the injury to his throwing hand.

Stafford injured the middle finger and thumb on his throwing hand last week against the Chicago Bears. It could cause him some problems with accuracy and velocity on his throws because he may not be able to hold the football as he normally does. He will start the game despite the injury and be wearing a specialty fitted glove.

It is something to keep an eye on as Stafford was inconsistent last week against the Bears. He was able to help pull out the victory but it was far from a memorable performance. He struggled to find a comfortable fit last week with a glove, as he wore four different ones over the course of the game.

He will have to figure something out because the Giants defense is multiple steps up from the Bears. Messy conditions are expected at MetLife as well so a sloppy game could further impact Stafford negatively.
