The New York Giants and Detroit Lions face off this afternoon at MetLife Stadium. It is an important game for both teams as it has plenty of playoff implications. Both teams come into the game with a 9-4 record and looking to cement their spot in the NFC Postseason picture.

With a victory, the Giants move a step closer to clinching a postseason berth. They still have an outside shot of catching the Dallas Cowboys for the NFC East title, but will need a lot of help to accomplish that feat. A Wild Card spot is much easier to attain, and a victory this week could come close to clinching a spot.

If the Giants win, they would need the Washington Redskins, Minnesota Vikings, and Green Bay Packers to lose to clinch a spot. That is no easy task, especially because the Giants have to take care of business first with a feisty Lions squad.

The Lions are currently leading the NFC North, two games clear of both the Vikings and Packers. A victory for them would all but clinch their division title so they will not just roll over against the Giants.

Both teams come into the game with plenty of success in close games. The Giants have found success this season closing out close games after struggling mightily in doing so in 2015. The Lions have made a habit of coming from behind in the fourth quarter to steal wins in the waning moments.
