Cornerback

Due to the struggles of the secondary this season, it shouldn’t be any surprise to hear that the Jets should consider drafting a cornerback in the NFL Draft this season. Coming into the season, the secondary looked pretty good on paper with Darrelle Revis leading the way. However, the decline of Revis has been shocking.

Towards the end of last season, Revis began to struggle a bit. With a wrist injury, many credited the injury to his struggles because he couldn’t play press coverage. After the wrist surgery in the offseason, Revis admittedly wasn’t in shape for the regular season, and he has played absolutely awful for the Jets this season.

With some uncertainty about his future with the Jets, the organization must be prepared for life without Revis next season. Even if Revis does take a massive pay cut to return, he is no longer the elite cornerback that the Jets need.

In the NFL, it is an absolute must to have good cornerbacks to cover wide receivers. This season, we have seen the Jets get burned by pretty much all wide receivers. The need for a shutdown cornerback will be one of the highest priorities of the Jets in the NFL Draft.
