– Start of the new era
After the benching of Ryan Fitzpatrick following a poor first half, the Bryce Petty era has begun in New York. Many Jets fans have been wanting to see Petty for a few weeks now. After losing their ninth game of the season, Todd Bowles has made the decision to start Petty for the rest of the season.
This is certainly the right move for the Jets. There hasn’t been much of a reason to play Fitzpatrick the past few weeks, as the Jets’ season has been over for a while now. With Fitzpatrick gone next season, the Jets must try to find out what they have with Petty.
In the second half against the Colts, Petty totaled one touchdown pass, two interceptions, and 135 passing yards. Petty did show off his strong arm in the second half, but there were a few really poor throws and also some drops by his wide receivers. Due to limited practice time, it is really hard to fairly judge Petty.

With four games left to play, Petty should be getting plenty of practice time to help him grow. The best way to do that is to let him go out there and sling the ball around.
