– End of Fitz

Monday night will likely be the last time that we see quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick in a Jets uniform. It has been an awful season for Fitzpatrick in 2016, and he likely won’t be brought back next season.

After setting the Jets single-season passing touchdowns record last season, Fitzpatrick has been a huge disappointment this season. In 2016, Fitzpatrick has totaled 10 touchdown passes, 14 interceptions, and has a completion percentage under 60 percent this season.

Against the Colts on Monday,  Fitzpatrick continued to struggle. In the first half, Fitzpatrick totaled 81 passing yards with an interception. On the first drive, Fitzpatrick was lucky that he didn’t throw an interception on third down deep in Jets territory.

With the Jets trailing 24-3 at halftime, Todd Bowles made the decision to let Bryce Petty start the second half. While Petty didn’t play well, he is going to be given a chance to grow in the final four games, as he was announced as the starter for the rest of the regular season.

Fitzpatrick’s time in New York has been an interesting one. Now, he will be watching from the sidelines as the Jets hope to develop Petty into a starting quarterback.
