Rushing Offense Grade: C+

The Giants rushing game did what they could with the opportunities given to them. The Giants abandoned the run and never really tried establishing it. It was weird to see as the running game has shown signs of life in recent weeks and they were finding a little success against the Steelers.

Rashad Jennings started the game strong. He touched the ball on the Giants first five plays of the game with two carries and three receptions. He would receive only four carries and three receptions the remainder of the game, which makes little sense. He ran for only 19 yards on his six carries and had 34 receiving yards with a touchdown on six receptions.

Perkins led the backfield in rushing yards against the Steelers. He made some nice moves in the backfield, making something out of nothing multiple times. He ran for 38 yards on seven carries, showing some life out of the backfield.

Why the Giants got away from the running game so quickly makes little sense. They have struggled on the ground all season but Perkins was finding some holes and they went away with from him quickly.

The running game is never going to be a big part of the Giants offense. Part of that is personnel, but also because the coaching staff doesn’t seem interested in making it work. The offense will never reach its potential unless the run game gets going in some capacity.
