New York Giants: Who Are Five Players to Watch vs Pittsburgh Steelers?
By Nick Ziegler
Jason Pierre-Paul
This offseason, the Giants spent a lot of money on the defensive side of the ball. After being one of the worst teams defensively last season, the Giants are much-improved this season. In the secondary, Janoris Jenkins has been all the Giants could have asked for as a No.1 corner.
On the defensive line, Damon Harrison has been a force in the middle. Having Harrison has greatly improved the Giants run defense from last season. The biggest signing for the Giants was defensive end, Olivier Vernon. Getting more pressure on the quarterback was a need for the Giants, and Vernon was the top pass-rusher on free agency.
In addition to the moves to bring in talented new players, the Giants also signed Jason Pierre-Paul to a one-year deal. After suffering the fireworks injury, Pierre-Paul struggled for much of the 2015 season. This season, Pierre-Paul has been playing very well for the Giants, especially lately.
Next: Giants Team Grades vs. Browns
The past two games, Pierre-Paul has totaled 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one touchdown. The great game against the Browns last week led to Pierre-Paul being named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week. Getting pressure on Roethlisberger will be important for the Giants this week. With Pierre-Paul playing some of the best football in his career, the Giants will hope to disrupt the high-powered Steelers offense.
