Special Teams Grade: B

The Giants special teams could have had a much bigger afternoon but were done in by their own mistakes. It has yet to cost the Giants, but Robbie Gould missed another extra point. He did make his other three attempts, but that is three misses in his last two games.

Dwayne Harris was not returning punts or kicks today, instead, the Giants used Bobby Rainey. Rainey was solid in kick returns, averaging 25.5 yards on his two returns. He also muffed one of his four punt return attempts. The muffed punt resulted in a field goal for the Browns. Rainey did have three other chances and managed only seven yards.

The Giants then inserted Odell Beckham Jr. and he got things going in a hurry. He had three returns for 35 yards, which is solid but should have been much more. Beckham Jr. actually returned one to the house but it was called back on a holding call on Mark Herzlich.

The Giants coverage teams were outstanding. Ricardo Louis averaged only 22.5 yards per kick return and Duke Johnson Jr. was held to five yards on three attempts. Brad Wing had a strong game punting. He punted 9 times, averaging 47.4 yards per punt. He did an excellent job with placement, pinning five inside the 20. He did have one touchback but had a terrific afternoon otherwise.
