New York Giants Team Grades vs Cleveland Browns
Rushing Defense Grade: A+
The Giants run defense once again was stout. The Browns have some talent in their backfield with Isaiah Crowell and Duke Johnson Jr., but they got nothing going against a strong Giants defensive front that was up for the task.
Crowell received 16 carries on the afternoon but managed only 44 yards. That equals out to 2.8 yards per carry. The Giants also forced a fumble on Crowell, which was recovered by Devon Kennard. The Giants turned that fumble into the first points of the game and took a 7-0 lead.
Johnson Jr. didn’t fare any better than Crowell on the ground. He received only five carries and turned it into 14 yards, also averaging only 2.8 yards per carry. Both players made more of an impact in the passing game. Crowell was the second leading receiver, catching six passes for 47 yards. Johnson Jr. had three receptions for 26 yards.
The Giants once again got the job done defending the run. It turned the Browns into a one-dimensional offense. They were able to pin their ears back and rush the passer, putting constant pressure on McCown because he got no relief from his running game.
