Nothing on the ground

Coming into the game the Jets had a bit of an advantage on the ground, but that was not the case on Sunday. The Jets tried to keep the Patriots honest on Sunday, but their running game was rather ineffective.

As a team, the Jets totaled just 64 rushing yards on 23 rushing yards. Their longest run of the game was just seven yards. Bilal Powell was the leading rusher for the Jets, as he totaled 36 rushing yards on eight carries. Despite a few good games in a row, Matt Forte was shut down by the Patriots.

In the loss, Forte totaled just 27 rushing yards on 13 carries. The Patriots made it a priority to stop the Jets on the ground, and they were certainly able to accomplish that. Despite struggling on the ground, the Jets were able to keep the time of possession even against the Patriots.

It would have been nice to win the time of possession for the Jets, but they were able to keep the game competitive. If the Jets were able to run the ball a little bit better, it could have been the difference in the game. Give credit to the Patriots for making it their priority to stop the Jets strength on offense.
