Heavy Dose of Jennings

Against the Bengals on Monday night, we began to see the Giants make a big commitment to their running game. Running back Rashad Jennings was the workhorse for the Giants last week, and that continued against the Bears.

On Sunday, Jennings totaled 85 rushing yards on 21 carries with one rushing touchdown. While it was good to see another strong game from Jennings, he wasn’t able to ice the game like he did against the Bengals.

In the win on Monday night, Jennings had a few really nice runs late in the game that helped seal the victory for the Giants. That was not the case on Sunday, as the Bears were ready for Jennings and the Giants plan late in the game.

After four straight games of totaling fewer than 30 rushing yards, Jennings has now rushed for more than 80 yards in his last two games. Some credit also has to go to a banged up Giants offensive line, as they have been doing a good job even without Justin Pugh.

Moving forward, it appears that the Giants are going to be trying to have a more balanced attack on offense. Even though Jennings and the running game struggled at times, they stuck with it.
