Carlos Beltran

One of the players that the Yankees have actually been linked to is their former player Carlos Beltran. Last season, the Yankees traded Beltran to the Texas Rangers as part of their sell-off at the trade deadline.

Due to Beltran being a free agent at the end of the season, it made sense for the Yankees to trade him at the deadline when they believed they wouldn’t have a shot at reaching the playoffs last season.

In addition to being a leader on the Yankees last season, Beltran was also a great mentor for some of their young players. In 2017, the roster could be very young, and having a player for the younger guys to look up to would be nice.

While being a good leader is important, hitting is what the Yankees really need, and Beltran is still doing that at a high level. With the Yankees last season, Beltran totaled a .304 batting average, 22 home runs, and 64 RBIs.

Before being traded, Beltran was truly having a great season for the Yankees. With the Rangers, Beltran continued to hit well, and he is showing no signs of slowing down. A possible reunion this offseason would be a welcomed thing for the Yankees.
