Three-Point Shooting

Both the Hawks and the Knicks are strong three-point shooting teams. The Knicks are 13th in the NBA in three-point percentage, making 35 percent. The Hawks are right behind them at 34.7 percent. Each team has four players that make more than one three-pointer per game.

For the Knicks, it is Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis, Courtney Lee, and Brandon Jennings. Justin Holiday is just short at 0.9 three-point makes per game. For the Hawks, Kyle Korver, Tim Hardaway Jr., Kent Bazemore, and Dennis Schroder makes the list. Millsap and Muscala are right near one a game at 0.9 and 0.8 respectively.

Where the teams really differ is defending the three-point line. The Knicks have struggled mightily to contain teams shooting three-pointers. We have seen teams that struggle to knock down threes make them with ease against the Knicks. In their last game against the Wizards, who are tied for second to last in three-pointers made per game, shot 60 percent from the three-point line.

The Hawks are tough against teams shooting from behind the arc. They are second in the NBA in opponents three-point shooting percentage, holding teams to 32.1 percent.

This will be something to watch for the Knicks. They have allowed bad teams to shoot the ball well on the perimeter; how will they fare against a good shooting team that defends the three-point line even better.
