Reports are coming in that the New York Yankees have traded Brian McCann to the Houston Astros. What is the reaction to this big trade?
The New York Yankees and Houston Astros have been linked for the past few weeks now about being possible trade partners, and it appears that a deal is done. According to Jon Morosi, the Yankees have sent Brian McCann to the Astros for Albert Abreu and Jorge Guzman.

For the Yankees, the decision to trade McCann makes a lot of sense because of the emergence of Gary Sanchez. Even though Sanchez didn’t win the Rookie of the Year after his historic start to his career, he will be the future catcher for the Yankees. In addition to having Sanchez, Austin Romine has also proven to be a very capable backup for the Yankees.
The Astros certainly have a talented lineup, and the addition of McCann will help balance it. As it is currently constructed, the Astros have a lot of right-handed hitters, but they have lacked quality left-handed hitters.
McCann help brings balance to the batting lineup for the Astros, and he will also be sharing time behind the plate with Evan Gattis. McCann will likely catch more games that Gattis for the Astros and he should fit in nicely.
One of the possible hiccups with a McCann trade was his no-trade clause. However, McCann has agreed to the deal to send him to Houston, as they will likely have a better chance to win in 2017 than the Yankees.

This is certainly a big move for the Yankees, as it continues their rebuilding of their farm system with the prospects of Abreu and Guzman. What do people on Twitter think of the deal for the Yankees?

Absolutely love the Brian McCann trade for both sides. I'll miss his HR call, but now the Yankees opened up some payroll for a closer.

Brian McCann might not be in his prime anymore but it's still better than Jason Castro!!!

The reaction to the trade seems to differ depending on the angle, but pretty much everyone saw his departure from New York coming. Now, it will be interesting to see what the Yankees do with the designated hitter spot, and some of the money they freed up. The Astros are eating a good amount of the contract according to Buster Olney.
The Yankees are kicking in $5.5 million of the $17 million McCann will make each of the next two seasons.

The MLB Hot Stove is officially on for the Yankees after this trade. Stay tuned to see what they will do next.
