Yankees Rumors: Latest Hot Stove Buzz

Brett Gardner
One of the veterans of the Yankees that could possibly be on his way out is outfielder Brett Gardner. According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, a few teams will inquire about the services of Gardner.
"Expect a few teams to inquire about Gardner’s availability, ones that could use a lefthanded bat/leadoff hitter. Gardner could bring back prospects to add to the Yankees’ war chest. “Open to listening to anything,” said GM Brian Cashman."
Gardner is coming off of a gold glove season for the Yankees but with Jacoby Ellsbury on the team, Gardner can’t be utilized to his full potential. Like Cafardo mentioned, Gardner can be a leadoff hitter and a starter on many other teams in the league.
Last season, Gardner totaled .261 batting average, seven home runs, 41 RBIs, 16 stolen bases, and was only caught stealing four times. Adding Gardner to a team that doesn’t have a leadoff hitter would be a good idea, as he is certainly capable of that.
For the Yankees, moving Gardner would also allow them to have some more flexibility in their outfield to add more of a power hitter. Gardner also comes at a rather affordable price for the next few seasons and could get the Yankees some more prospects to add to their farm system.
