New York Giants Team Grades vs Cincinnati Bengals
Special Teams: B
The tide of the game turned on the kickoff to start the second half. The Giants allowed Alex Erickson to return the kickoff 84 yards to the 13-yard line. Jeremy Hill would pound it in two plays later and give the Bengals the lead.
The Giants surrendered all the momentum and were almost done in when Erickson had a solid punt return following the Giants three-and-out. The Giants were able to hold the Bengals to a field goal, but the damage was done. Erickson single-handedly gave the Bengals all the momentum that the Giants would wrestle back throughout the second half.
Erickson finished the game averaging 36.3 yards per kick return and 11.7 yards per punt return. He was a sparkplug for the Bengals as their offense was stagnant. The Giants were unable to get much going in the return game and lost Dwayne Harris to a toe injury. They averaged 17.7 yards per kick return and 10 yards per punt return.
Robbie Gould did make all three of his extra point attempts, remaining perfect on the season. Brad Wing was the bright spot tonight. Wing helped change the field position game, pinning the Bengals inside the 20-yards line twice out of his five punts. He averaged an impressive 46 yards per punt on the night.
