Rushing Defense: A

The Giants run defense has been solid all season and it continued against the Bengals. Olivier Vernon was a difference maker here once again, leading the team with 10 tackles tonight, two of which were for a loss.

The Giants had six total tackles for loss as they lived in the Bengals backfield. Damon Harrison also had eight tackles, one for loss, as he has provided the run stuffing the Giants were hoping he would.

The Bengals entered the game with a relatively strong rushing attack. They average 120.3 yards per game and 4.4 yards per carry. Both of those numbers will drop as they weren’t able to get anything going other than one drive in the third quarter.

Jeremy Hill ran for 33 yards the first two drives out of halftime, also scoring a touchdown. That was all he could muster, as he finished the game with only 46 yards on 15 carries. Giovani Bernard was unable to get anything going either. He isn’t the power back that Hill is and found no room, gaining 17 yards on seven carries.

The longest run of the night for the Bengals came courtesy of Dalton, who scrambled for 15 in the fourth quarter. On the night the Bengals ran for only 78 yards on 23 carries, averaging 3.2 yards per carry.
