Special Teams: B+

The Giants special teams have produced a mixed bag at times. The debacle with Josh Brown was tough to stomach, but on the field, this unit has been good more often than not.

Reggie Bullock missed an extra point in Week 1 when Brown was suspended, but Brown and his replacement Robbie Gould have made all 15 of their attempts. Brown was 11-for-12 on the season kicking field goals, while Gould has made his only attempt thus far.

Brad Wing has taken a step back in his punting accuracy. His inside the 20 percentage and touchback percentage are on pace to be career worsts. But he is on pace for his highest gross and net punting average. The Giants are not taking full advantage of the added yardage on Wing’s punts, as they are allowing 14 yards per punt return.

Their coverage on kick returns has been solid. They are allowing only 19.9 yards per return, the 11th best mark in the NFL. The Giants have excelled when given a chance to return kicks, averaging 25.2 yards per kick return. Dwayne Harris is averaging 26.2 yards per kick return and 6.7 yards per punt return.

Having strong special teams is an important part of the game. The Giants have not hurt themselves on special teams but it would be nice to see them tighten up the punt coverage. Wing has not been as accurate this season, so there is a little more pressure on the coverage team to make tackles.
