Rushing Defense Grade: A-

The Giants run defense has done a total 180 from last season. In 2015 the Giants were a sieve against the run as teams gashed them week in and week out. This season they are performing much better against the run.

The additions of Damon Harrison and Vernon in free agency along with Pierre-Paul and a healthy Johnathan Hankins are a lot for opposing teams to go against. The Eagles found out just how tough as they ground out 96 yards on 25 carries. 36 of those yards came on two carries from Darren Sproles and Wendell Smallwood; take that out and the Eagles averaged mere 2.6 yards per carry.

The Giants did allow two touchdowns on the ground, which is why they received the grade they did. Eli Apple was caught out of position on Ryan Mathews touchdown run as Landon Collins was visibly frustrated with the rookie as he thought he had help on the perimeter.

The Giants had 4.5 tackles for loss against the Eagles as they got penetration all afternoon. It is a nice change from last season as the Giants have a tough defensive unit to go up against. The signing of Keenan Robinson has been a sneaky one as he gives the Giants more athleticism to play sideline-to-sideline along with Devon Kennard and Jonathan Casillas.
