Tight Ends
Grade: N/A
It is impossible to give out a grade to a position that isn’t used. Chan Gailey’s offense basically ignores the tight end position like it doesn’t exist in the game.
A tight end has been targeted only six times all season by a Jets quarterback. Brandon Bostick has two receptions for 13 yards. The other two receptions came from Austin Seferian-Jenkins for 17 yards.
The Jets claimed Seferian-Jenkins off waivers after he was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs waived their former second-round pick after he was arrested for a DUI. The Jets had hoped that he could help bring something to their offense, but he was hurt after playing one game with the team.
He has returned to the practice field this week for the first time since Week 5, but he hasn’t done anything to turn around the Jets fortunes at the position. It is a black hole production wise as the Jets just do not have anyone worth using at the spot and it is not a position Gailey incorporates in his offense.
