– Stronger Rushing Attack

In the win against the Browns, too many people’s delight, the Jets appear to be more committed to running the football. The struggles of Fitzpatrick this season have left many wondering why the Jets haven’t been running the football more. Partially due to the running game struggling to find its groove, the Jets have become far too pass happy at times. In the win against the Browns, that was not the case.

On Sunday, the Jets totaled 35 rushing attempts as a team, which was one more attempt that they had passing. Matt Forte led the way on the ground for the Jets, as he totaled 82 rushing yards, and two rushing touchdowns on 25 carries. While the yards per carry average wasn’t great for Forte, it certainly was nice to see him carrying the ball more often.

Bilal Powell really had an excellent game for the Jets, as he totaled 76 rushing yards on six carries, which included a big 35-yard run. With the struggles of the Jets’ passing defense, keeping the ball on the ground and the defense off the field is certainly a recipe for success right now. The rushing attack hasn’t been great this season, but the Jets need it to win games.
